The Kardex Compact Buffer (formerly LR 35) consists of a shelf system with automatic bin handling, picking stations and its own logistics software. A movable mast travels the center aisle using a rotating gripper to retrieve stored bins and deliver them to the operator at a turntable or to a conveyor for fully automated remote picking.
The operator turntable is tilted at an angle of 20 degrees providing user friendly ergonomics at the access point. While the operator removes one item from a bin, the next bin is placed on the rear shelf of the turntable. As soon as the picking process is complete the turntable turns through 180 degrees and the next bin is ready for picking, eliminating operator wait time.
